Jean Ruth Roberston was everyone's favourite person.
She was a mother, a nana, a sister, an aunt, a great aunt, a daughter, and a (first, second, third) cousin. Furthermore, her love extended, unbridled and unfiltered beyond the bounds of familial relationships. She loved equally her dear friends, chosen family, comrades and community members. Her heart held no bias or fear. She was also a feminist, an activist, a giver, a doer, a fixer, a carer, and a matriarch.
She loved fiercely, cared without inhibition, gave generously, fought valiantly and moved with the kind of gentle, unwavering warmth that is one in a million. Whether a friend from her accounting or teaching years, or a stranger passing on the streets of Welling, Lilongwe, or Salmon Arm, one could surely receive a smile, a bear hug, a token of wisdom or a fall-off-your-chair-hilarious anecdote from Jean.
She dedicated every moment of her life to the pursuit of a kinder world. She was the definition of selfless. She spread joy effortlessly. She always did what was right. She travelled to almost every continent on Earth and left behind memories that will live on for generations.
Jean Ruth Robertson led an exemplary life and leaves behind a phenomenal legacy. She laughed right until the end and passed on knowing how loved, valued and deeply respected she was, and will always be.
